It’s Real Nappy Week 2013!

When I was pregnant with my first (who is now the rip old age of 6), I wondered what all the fuss was about with ‘real’ nappies. The message from my Mum was - ‘you will have enough washing to do without making any more for yourself’. I therefore ignored the fact that there was a real alternative to disposables. Then number two came along - number two who incidentally hadn’t read the baby-manual and was quite frankly born grumpy (sorry Harry is you are reading this once you are older!)….and again it was considered but not particularly seriously as there just didn’t seem the time to consider anything new - it was all about survival. Now however, when I want to consider it seriously I don’t have a newborn. So - what changed my mind? I now work in the Nursery Industry and am surrounded by baby products including ‘fluff’ and wow are they good. My misconceptions have flown out of the window and I have a sneaky suspicion that ‘next time round’ (ahem sorry Mr PT) I could become quite addicted. I wanted to know more, so I invited Fuzzibunz to share their story… Continue reading

I was asked to review the rainwear made by Finnish company Rukka thanks to Sunproof. Little did they know at this point that it really would be tested to the limit. My chief testers were Sam (aged 6) and Harry (aged 3) and they wear waterproofs most days at school / Nursery. Sam and Harry attend a school which is owned by a Forest School practitioner and one of their clear expectations is that the children go outside daily come rain or shine, both for the traditional playtime, but they use their outside area as a ‘classroom’. My boys LOVE it but I have to know that they will be warm and dry of course. They are actively encouraged to get wet and get muddy - what could be better for two little boys?

Here at PT, we are known for our reviews about pushchairs (obviously), but more and more people are asking for our independent review of other products aimed at babies and toddlers. Gro-Company, initially known for their Grobags asked us to review their ‘Gro Anywhere Blind’. I jumped at the chance for very selfish and personal reasons!!! I realise that this product is aimed at parents of young babies BUT we were having an early morning ‘nightmare’ in the form of our 5-year-old son who was insisting at getting up at around 5am each morning. I was pretty sure that it was because it was getting light and that despite substantial curtains with the alleged ‘black out’ liner, the early morning sunlight was somehow still managing to ‘get around these’. The Gro Company, makers of the original Grobag baby sleep bags, are on a mission to help parents combat cold winter nights. As part of their Autumn Winter 2012 range they’ve added the Gro-suit and Winter Warmer Grobag both of which are to be used in colder winter temperatures. Continue reading
It may seem an odd time of year to be talking about UV suits - but having holidayed in the Winter last year, I have first-hand experience of trying to source and purchase UV suits for my boys when they are not available on the high street. The answer comes in the form of Sunproof, who stock a wide range of suits 52 weeks of the year. I was asked to review some of their range whilst on holiday, so two weeks of sun, sea and sand really put the outfits through their paces!
