Kathy Wardle 'Living With' the SnoozeShade plus
Hi I'm Kathy, I'm 33 and a first time mum to 10 month old Jessica. I live in Cornwall with my husband Matt. When I'm not on maternity leave I work as a Journalist. We have a very active outdoors lifestyle and spend lots of time at the beach and walking the coast path and in local woodlands. I have an iCandy Peach 2 travel system which I use daily for walking round our village, naps, and supermarket trips. I'm excited to be a product tester and can't wait to try out the new Snoozeshade!

First Impressions
As the owner of a older basic SnoozeShade my first impressions are that the Deluxe Edition fabric seems thicker, looks more luxurious and 'designer'. I like the fact that the zipped peekaboo window for checking on your baby is bigger than on the basic shade and horizontal. The front of the SnoozeShade zips completely open so that you can take your child in and out of the pushchair without removing the SnoozeShade which will make life so much easier. It also has two layers at the front - one for blocking out the sun and another with slightly less protection that allows the child to see out for not so hot or bright conditions. This means it has more flexibility than other shades. I have also noticed that the Deluxe SnoozeShade fastens around the pushchair frame using loops with poppers rather than Velcro. This means it's less likely to stick to other fabrics, but it's slightly more fiddly to do up. It can fit over prams or pushchairs so offers a lot of flexibility. I just need it to stop raining now so I can take it for a proper spin!***********************
It's been a very wet and windy week but I've managed to get out to test the Snoozeshade between the showers. I took Jessica out for a walk round the village in the hope she might nap! I found the Snoozeshade a bit big for the main seat on my iCandy Peach, the fabric bags a little at the bottom but it still functions fine. There also aren't as many places on the pushchair frame to loop the snoozeshade onto as I expected, but I managed to fasten it on OK. Jessica kept grabbing the edges of the shade and enjoyed waving them about...perhaps that's why she didn't drop off to sleep! I'm looking forward to trying out the shade when the sun comes out as Jess hates the sun in her eyes.
Well after a week of stormy weather the sun is out and we've had some lovely walks using the Snoozeshade. Jess grizzles when she gets the sun in her eyes, so I've been starting out with the black under layer down. This means she can still see me and the world before she nods off but it takes away that glare. Today she had a great hour long nap in the pushchair, and the Snoozeshade shut out all distractions and kept the bright winter sun off her. The zip peephole feature is brilliant so I can keep a check on her.

Jess has had a lovely nap in the fresh autumn air today. It only took a
few jiggles of the pushchair on the patio and she was off! For something
like this you can just pop the shade over the pushchair as it's
elasticated...you don't need to do up all of the tabs which is handy.
It also keeps the autumn chill off as it acts as a bit of a windstopper, but is still nice and breathable. I think Jess is starting to almost get a signal that its nap time when I put the shade on!

The SnoozeShade Deluxe instructions say its good for protecting baby from the elements all year round. So, as it has turned very chilly this week, I've started using it regardless of how sunny it is to keep the wind out. It does act as quite a good windbreak without getting too hot or fugged up like a plastic rain cover. Jess quite often gets little tears in her eyes from the wind but the shade helped keep the icy breeze off her. It wasn't even nap time and she quickly dozed off - must have been snug as a bug in there!

Today we've been doing a bit of Christmas shopping in the supermarket...the snoozeshade came in handy to keep out the lights and distractions so Jess could nap. She had her vaccinations yesterday and is quite groggy so it was brilliant to be able to get on with the shopping whilst she rested. I'd definitely recommend the snoozeshade if you have a light or sensitive sleeper.

Jess asleep under the snoozeshade plus at the supermarket. It does help to keep out lights and distractions indoors too, especially if you have a light sleeper.
Well it's been a very wet and stormy Christmas down here so the snoozeshade didn't get much use recently. However I popped to the shops in the village yesterday afternoon and took the snoozeshade as I couldn't find my rain cover. Its a good job I did as we got caught in a hail storm! I used the snoozeshade to shield jess and it worked ok, but trying to attach it and zip it up in high winds was a nightmare and I couldn't see the black poppers in the dark. Sometimes I think maybe the basic snoozeshade with the Velcro is easier to use than the plus model.
